During the holiday I helped my Mom get down little used serving dishes. One of them that was brought down during the dish shuffle was this domed candy dish. My Mom has never used this candy dish but it was my grandmother's (her mother-in-law). She asked if I wanted it, the answer but of course! She told me that my Dad bought it at a dime store for my Grandmother when he was young. I'm guess it was purchased in the mid to late 1940's.
This candy dish sat on my Grandmother's coffee table in the living room for as long as I can remember. She filled it with ribbon candy during the holidays. Not a kid's favorite candy but is sure was pretty to look at. Now it is filled with pink and white M & M's and was the starting point for my Valentine's Day display. I added another candy dish filled with hearts, a creamer with a dried rose, champagne flute and vintage pin.
That lidded dome was tall and I'm sure hard for little hands to handle. The rim of the dish has several chips but it does not diminish it's beauty. Kind of like lines on someones face, they added character.

I also added a hand holding a little love.
The creamer I have had for many years, I like the delicate detail at the top.
I love this candy or nut scoop.
The candy dish is etched and has patterned air bubbles in it, and interest touch. I was please I got a picture to turn out of the etching.

I hope you have few cherished chipped pieces at your house.

Hi Laura, My, what a lovely and "sweet" post. I especially like the little pewter hand and the tiny little crock with the rose bud.
Pretty, pretty, pretty:)
Thank you for sharing.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Hi! Your pinks are so pretty and pleasing! I love the pewter scoop and the candy dish is a delight! What a lovely memory you have! HPS and enjoy the weekend!
Oh Laura, I love this post. I love the memory that comes from this beautiful dish. I have a piece of Riviera(same make of Fiesta) that my grandmother purchased for her sister in law. My mom was close with her aunt and before she passed she gave it to my mom who gave it to me when I got married.
What a pretty Valentine vignette! Chips in pieces I love don't bother me in the least. They just add another piece of history to it.
Love the rhinestone buckle and the candy scoop!!
You always manage to bring forth wonderful images and memories. My aunt had a heavy cranberry glass covered candy dish on her coffee table. My cousins can still describe in detail their method for lifting the top off to get at the candy without making any noise. Love the little creamer guy!
Pretty pinks! Happy Pink Saturday to you.........Sarah
Beautiful candy vignette. The scoop is lovely.
Your pinks are lovely and so is the dish from your grandmother's home. I love things that have sentimental value. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I so appreciate it. God bless.

What a gorgeous bit of pink for the holiday! I have plenty of chipped and cherished pieces, too. You have created such a gorgeous vignette.
Hugs,
Patti
You've created a pretty little vignette with the vintage glass. I love old glass items, they're all pretty and unique! and the chips do add patina, like our faces as we age! Good analogy!
Hugs, Cindy
What a sweet valentine vignette. Pretty and dainty. Loving the little creamer and the pretty scoop.

What a sweet vignette! It reminds me of my grandmother. Love your blog!
Such lovely pieces of memories! To me, "chips" mean they were lovingly handled. My fave is the scoop and the 'hand' card holder.

Ah, everything is so lovely
BUT your last line made me laugh!
I raised three boys...most of my LIFE got chipped! :) now ? My little grandson is starting to chip away too! Let's see...there was the coatrack last month, the knob to a table, and on and on....
It's wonderful to be surrounded by things that have family memories attached to them, isn't it? The brooches are so pretty.
What a beautiful post. I love all the pretty treasures in your vignette. The candy dish reminds me of one my grandmother always had on her coffee table, she filled hers with peanuts. Thanks so much for sharing this.
What a timely post. I was just thinking the other day how you don't see candy dishes around much these day and about how much I would love to find one that I like to bring back the tradtion. I remember my grandmother always had more than one candy dish in her living room.
Wonderful photos! The candy dish is so sweet (no pun there) and I love the little creamer. I have a plain white one like it --I wonder if yours also is a Hall's creamer--I don't usually see them decorated (I college Hall creamers). Your whole display is so cheery.
Oh very very pretty. I love all your pics. The little empty frame gave me a wonderful idea. Well the whole post did. But especially the frame. My Cowboy and I are hosting a special Valentines Day Dinner at our home. You've inspired more decorating ideas!
Thank you for sharing. Oh BTW I followed you at Creative Cain Cabin linky. It was nice to meet you.
Have a wonderful day,
Sherry
Sweet memories you do have and I truly enjoyed reading about the candy dish. I found you at Mod Mix Monday.
I don't blame you for taking it. I love to have family pieces.
I have been giving my daughter just things I have bought through out the years and she wants them now, like pyrex and old kitchen collectibles
your pictures are really pretty. I don't have one valentines thing out yet
Oh what beautiful vignette! Love the scoop, the candy dish oh, I am in love with it all... it's just so beautiful love the colors of the M&Ms too...And you take beautiful pictures wow!
Such a feminine and romantic display...Your candy dish is lovely and the perfect addition to your beautiful display. Don't you just love Valentines Day?

What a pretty vignette! I love the candy dish, and I agree that a few chips add character :) Your little creamer is so sweet. I think I'll get my grandmother's candy dish out today. Thanks for the inspiration!
