Mirrors and a Basket

The other day I showed you the bright pink dresser I painted for Andrea's closet at the cottage. Just click here if you missed seeing that post. Another sweet detail in her closet is a basket of vintage mirrors hanging on the back of the closet door.

I collected a few mirrors intending to hang them on a wall but the idea didn't work for the space that I had in mind. So what to do with the mirrors? They are too pretty to be stuck in a drawer somewhere. I found the wire basket in my travels and knew it would be great for displaying the mirrors.

I love the hook and the detail on the pink and black mirror.

I find if you collect, buy or save things you truly love, you will eventually find a spot for them.

Do you have a collection stashed away somewhere? What is it and can you bring it out to put on display?

Hope everyone is staying cool this week! It was 90 degrees on Monday and here in northern Michigan most of the cottages (including ours) have no air conditioning. Thank heavens there was a little Lake Michigan breeze!

I love what you did with the mirrors. I have a wonderful collection of vintage salt and pepper shakers. They are very bright and fun. I used to have them displayed on a standing shelf that my dad made for them. It was a focal point in the kitchen at our old house, but here, there is a whole different feeling- more calm, uncluttered, natural and they don't fit in. So they are boxed up and stored away.

The mirrors are very pretty and interesting but I am in love with that wire basket!

I have found that I buy things I am attracted to and then they become a collection... funny how things all seem to tie in together when you buy what you love.

Thanks for sharing at my party :)

You've given me an idea for all those mirrors I have tucked away who knows where! Very clever.

Laura, your basket with the mirrors is a wonderful idea. I love old vintage mirrors too. I have really been into fairies lately and have bought about five of them. There's something magical about them. That is the only thing I have collected lately.

Laura, the pink hook is neat but even better is the basket of mirrors. I had one of those mirrors myself when I was a girl in the 60's. Olive

That is a lovely way to display your hand mirrors! I would have never thought of that. You are so clever!
I have things that are stored I wish I had on display. I guess I need to get more creative with them. Thank for the inspiration!

I am crazy about your basket. Makes want to go get that roll of rusty chicken wire out from behind the shed and try making one. :) Happy Thursday

This basket with the mirror collection is so sweet. And you are correct. Often times I just buy things not knowing what I'm going to do with them but eventually I always figure it out.

Hi Laura, I love the mirrors and the basket is just perfect for displaying them. I have never seen such cute vintage mirrors. I have been collecting old cameras to display in my (future) craft room. lol! Oh well, I will use them for vignettes now and then. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.

This is such a wonderful way to display your mirror collection. That wire basket is so unique - in a good way. I have several different types of collections. One thing I collect is vintage wooden shoe forms and haven't figured out what to do with them yet. Stay cool!
