Happy New Year!

Andrea my blogging partner daughter is back in New York City and rang in the new year there. We had a quiet night at the Cottage and dinner with friends. Today we are all waiting for the rain to turn into snow, we are supposed to get a "measurable" amount of snow.  Sadly we only had a dusting of snow on Christmas Day. We are poised and ready with our snow shoes, the skiers and snowmobilers are waiting….Oh please let it snow!

I love her little snow muff. Andrea wanted one when she was little until she realized the fur was from a bunny, that was a freak out moment. Needless to say no furry muff for her.

Again I was surprised that this card was from Charlevoix, I've had these cards many years and had not paid that much attention to the back.

It is from Bellingham, Washington, dated December 25, 1914. Her message reads:

Dear Sister: Received your ? box all O.K. it is so pretty and the things so pretty and Dear little Wm (William I'm guessing) is so cute I would just like to hug him and Rena is such a young lady. I can hardly realize that she is grown up as well as mine are. Well I am going to write you a letter next week and send you a picture. So goodby  Alta

A sweet message from sisters living far away from each other.

This one was addressed to Mr & Mrs Eators Restaurant, a little strange don't you think??

As it says, wishing you Prosperous New Year to You. I would add a happy and healthily one to you and your family. Looking forward to a new year of blogging.

Laura, I'm loving your vintage post cards, and the fur muff reminds me of one I had when I was little. I also had leggings, like the little girl on the card. I loved that rabbit fur muff, and thought I was so grown up when I wore it.
Thanks for sharing the messages on the cards. It's always so interesting to peek into someone's life from long ago.
Have a great New Year!

Great little collection, Laura!
The faces on those little cherub children are so precious. I really think the older graphics are SO much better than our current illustrations, don't you?
Lovely!
Have been to Charlevoix, MI... charming little coastal town.
:)

Thanks so much for sharing!

Fun to see your vintage post cards. I, too, had one of those white rabbit muffs. Boy, did I think it was wonderful! Love the graphics on these. I have some for Thanksgiving and Fourth of July. This post makes me want to look for New Year's cards.

Hi Laura--such a lovely blog, so glad I stopped in! Love your vintage postcards. My daughter lives in NYC also, which is why we were there for Christmas, love it, love it! Your blog name interests me, because I grew up in upstate NY in Broome County. Wishing you snow, wishing us cooler temperatures :)

I love the old postcards that you shared...one of my favorite things to collect is the old postcards that have been sent. I enjoy reading the messages on back of them...they are always so heart warming aren't they? It shows that no matter what place in time people happen to be from...we have something very important in common...some things don't change...like the longing to stay in touch with those we love.
Happy New Year to you too!
Big hugs,
Queenie

You had me laughing about your daughter freaking out over the real bunny fur! Ha! It feels cold enough for snow here, but don't think it's in the forcast. Hope you have a wonderful new year too!

I love to read the messages on the antique and vintage postcards. I once found a gentleman's diary and the entries were fascinating. He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. Loved your beautiful Christmas Eve table setting. Happy New Year. ~
