Winter Colors

It's been a cold, cold winter in New York. I've spent most of it indoors hanging, which has been lovely but also led me to feel a little stir crazy...which led to me paint my apartment on a whim. Fortunately, it turned out a well!

I started with a largely white-on-white apartment.

With the help of my roommate I painted four walls in the apartment, one in each room, four different colors. It sounds like a lot of color, but it works. In one bedroom is a coral room, which looks nice with the bedding and accessories peppering the space. The rooms are still a little sparse - we did just move a few months ago.

Our hallway wall is nice cool blue, but it doesn't translate very well on film! Not a lot of light in our hall, but here's one snap for example's sake.

In our kitchen, we have a poppy - colored wall. We've got to get some larger art for the space, but it adds some dimension to the room.

The second bedroom is painted navy and is also well- accessorized.

  1. You've chosen some bold colours that look nice in your space. I've always leaned to the pastel colours, so it looks like spring in our house all the time.

  2. There's nothing like a change of wall color to bring new life to a room! Our house is somewhat dark, so I've been doing the opposite of you and painting white. Either way, change is good!

  10. Love the color! That should really give a spark to your apartment, and if it's too much for someone, they have the three other walls to look at. Good for you!

  16. I LOVE all the colors. When we moved into this house nearly every wall was white and I said I feel like I live in an asylum. I've added color with curtains and pictures but really want to paint. It will come in time but in the meantime I'm enjoying gathering ideas from others painting adventures.
