Seasonal Beauties

A few weeks ago I picked the last of the hydrangeas to dry out and preserve. The colors were amazing, soft and beautiful, magenta, blue and lavender. I have them in the living room at the cottage paired with a bird house and a small flock of birds.

The vintage ceiling tile I purchased several years ago at an antique show, it is in my favorite color pink, of course.  The cabinet holds some of my overflow dishes.

I think the colors of the hydrangeas are so varied and vibrant that they almost look fake. But trust me they came out of our garden.

Like most people I'm busy getting my house and food ready for hosting Thanksgiving dinner next week. I'm lucky my blogging partner daughter, Andrea is able to come home from NYC for the weekend, yeah! I'm baking family favorites like pumpkin bread and date nut bread and bringing out my turkey dishes. Do you have special dishes you prepare for your family or favorite place setting you use, I'd love to hear about it.

  5. Your hydrangeas are gorgeous. I would love to have some pink ones, but mine always turn blue. I know I can amend the soil to change their color and after seeing your beautiful ones I think I'll give it a try!

  13. Wow those colors are amazing! They look so good in the silver, on your cabinet. What a wonderful photo--could be on a magazine cover. I don't think we make anything particular at Thanksgiving though there is always a smile when I include a bowl of creamed baby onions!

  19. You sure have a knack of putting this and that together on the cabinet to look like a 100 bucks! Impressive decorating skills. The flowers bring color to the area and yes, they do look artificial but I know that they are from your garden. Just a lovely post this week.

  20. I'm having Hydrangea Envy of epic proportions! They don't grow so well in the Desert, so Alas I haven't been able to Grow, Harvest or Dry my own... though I wish I could because they are among my Favorite Florals! Your Vignette is Gorgeous and so Colorful... Loving the Pink Victorian Ceiling Tin.

  27. Oh my gosh Laura those Hydrangeas sre GORGEOUS! They do almost look fake. I will be picking the blooms off of my Limelight Hydrangea tree and adding them to my vintage mercury glass Christmas tree. No color, just a pretty vintage looking cream. Your vignette is so pretty. Love the ceiling tile! I have a cream one, but that pin, o-la-la! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
