Fall Picks

When I was younger and still living in Michigan I spent my fall seasons frequenting pumpkin patches, apple orchards and ciders mills. As did most people living in the Midwest, and I would imagine across the country in non-urban areas.  Hot cider, sugared donuts, prize-winning size pumpkins and burnt brown cornstalks were some of my favorite things to search for while wrapped up in sweaters and puffy vests.

Instead of driving out to an off-the-beaten-path field with mud and tree-lined rows, I now walk just a few short blocks East to the Green Market in Union Square where some of my favorite fall fixtures are still ready for the picking...just from the basket instead of the tree. Here are few pictures from a recent sunny autumn day:

Apple crisps are in these puppies futures.

Baby pumpkins for baby apartments.

Adorable.

Happy picking!

  1. That is so great that you live in walking distance from the Union Square Market. Great photos! I'm still out in suburbia but maybe someday I will live someplace where I can walk to everything! Happy Autumn, isn't it just the bet time of year?

  9. Cider in the city! Fabulous pictures (as always). Can't beat the cider mill and apple season in Michigan, but Union Square looks to be a close second! :-)

  10. Apples are so delicious in the Fall. When we lived in Northern Cal. we used to go to a place called Apple Hill. It was so fun. They had apple pie, apple cider, caramel apples. Your pictures brought back some lovely memories for me. The pumpkins are so cute too.

  11. Oh it all looks so inviting! We don't really get Fall here in sunny Florida. I won't complain (it has its perks) but I do miss the beauty of the seasons. Thanks for sharing that with us.
