Spring Flowers - Round Two

The wonderful thing about gardening is you get multiple rounds of flowers, something glorious is always popping up. This week in my garden it is daffodils…… I don't use much yellow in my garden, so I try to keep the yellows soft and closer to white.

The flowers below were a grocery store find, way brighter than I'd have in my garden but still very pretty. Bunnies and daffodils seem to go hand in hand for spring.

The bunny is Andrea's from when she was young. I think the bunny looks a little sad she did not make the cut to move to her NYC apartment. Trust me no room, Andrea's apartment is tiny!

This week our temperatures are back to being very chilly, in the low 40's. It seems cruel after having summer like weather for the last two weeks with it being in the 70's and 80's.  Luckily we have not had a hard frost. Looking forward to the next round of blooms, what is blooming in your area?

A thank you goes out to Patti and Paula at Ivy and Elephants for featuring our post about Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies. Patti and Paula host a linky party called What's it Wednesday. These two friends have the most amazing collections of vintage and beautiful items. If you have not visited their blog you are missing out!!!!

Beautiful Baubles

Last week I wrapped up the final day of the photography class I had been taking. One of our assignments was to take photos outside in downtown Plymouth, MI.  I completed that assignment then popped inside to a favorite shop, Home Sweet Home and snapped a few pictures…...

Home Sweet Home has beautiful displays throughout the store but I focused on all the beautiful baubles. Lots of pearls, crystals, gold, silver and charms adorn both necklaces and bracelets.

I loved the vintage style mannequins the jewelry was displayed on.

I could have taken home boat loads of these jewels but I exercised self-control!  If you ever find yourself in Plymouth, Michigan a stop at Home Sweet Home is a must.

I found my photography class very beneficial, I've learned to look at what I was photographing a little differently, with a more careful eye. I still need a better understanding of F-stops and when to use various settings but at least I have a starting point.

A big thank you to Very Merry Vintage Style for featuring our post from last week about pot holders. Very Merry Vintage Style is a wonderful blog that hosts a Share the Love Wednesday Link Party. If you missed our post click here, Princess and the Pea or Pot Holders?

Andrea my blogging partner-daughter had a big weekend, she successfully completed a half marathon which is a little over 13 miles!!!!! She just started running about six months ago and set her sights on entering a marathon. I'm dazzled and so proud of her accomplishment, congratulations!!!!!

Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

You might remember the other weekend I baked a cake for a family dinner at my sister's house. I also made Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies for the chocolate lovers in the family. The cookies are easy to make but a little fussy because you have to chill the dough, roll them into balls and then chill them again. However, they were worth the effort.

The cookies are a Martha Stewart recipe click on the name for the link to this yummy recipe
Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies. They only make 2 dozen cookies so you might want to make a double batch, trust me they will go fast!

They go great with a cup of tea and if you eat one for breakfast you have all day to burn the calories right? What are you baking this week?
